  • The Nigel Eady Trust is a legacy left for the benefit of Swindon Town Football Club and the community, following his death in early 2012.
  • The legacy was left with a stipulation that it could only be used for the long-term benefit of the club.
  • In their efforts to provide the town with a Community Sporting Hub, Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust were deemed to have met the criteria.

Following last week’s ground-breaking at the site of Swindon’s new Community Sporting Hub, Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust would like to express their deepest thanks to the Nigel Eady Trust. Without their generous contributions to the project, it may not have been possible.

Following the death of Nigel Eady in January 2012, the lifelong Swindon Town Fan left a considerable legacy to Swindon Town, with the stipulation that it be used for the long-term benefit of the club and community. Following the council’s landmark vote to grant Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust permission to build the sporting club hub last March, representatives of the Nigel Eady Trust reached out to confirm that the new facility would meet the criteria of an eligible beneficiary. The Trust is honoured to be deemed worthy of the grant, and believe that by building a Community Sporting Club Hub that the town can be proud of, we will be honouring the wishes of Nigel, a loyal Swindon Town supporter.

It is now seven years since Nigel Eady passed away and as trustees of his estate we have been searching for suitable schemes in which to invest his legacy. When we were approached by Jon and Clive we very quickly realised that this was something which we able and delighted to be associated with. The trustees wish them every success with this project and we are sure the people of Swindon will be proud of the facility once it is finished. The trustees will continue with their work to see that the proceeds of this estate are spent in such a way that honours the wishes of the benefactor.”

- A Trustee of the Nigel Eady Trust

The £2.4 million state-of-the-art facility will enable the Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust to further expand and enhance the projects and programmes that are enjoyed by so many local participants. The Trust delivers to a wide range of Swindon people from 2 to 85 years of age, in sessions not solely football focussed, but also tackling issues relating to health, social inclusion, education and sports participation. This new facility in the heart of Swindon will allow existing and new participants the opportunity to access these projects and programmes, enhancing and benefitting the community’s health and well-being.

We are extremely grateful and appreciative of the contribution from the Nigel Eady Trust. The significant support from the Nigel Eady Trust and its Trustees has enabled us to turn our long term vision and dream into a reality. This legacy from a very loyal Swindon Town supporter makes this project extra special. We will now endeavour to do everything possible to make sure that this new Community Sporting Facility is a fitting tribute to Nigel, and a lasting legacy for the Nigel Eady Trust.”
