WORLD BOOK DAY 2021!
This World Book Day, STFC Community Foundation are helping the Literacy Trust and Premier League Primary Stars give away 400 books to five local primary schools to support pupils literacy.
In total, nearly 25,000 free books will be given away to children who need them most.
World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading for pleasure. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. In the UK & Ireland, World Book Day is a charity funded by publishers and booksellers and sponsored by National Book Tokens.
We went out to two schools this morning to give out the books, and to help deliver an interactive quiz live streamed from authors Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton, and hosted by CBBCs Kenzie Benali. We also showed a video from the STFC First Team reading a poem, and talking about the importance of reading. Rockin’ Robin even came along to join in the fun!
We love our supporters.
And we love what we do. But we couldn’t do it without these great people that get behind us. Be a supporter.
