Week in review
With our Easter Holiday Development Courses welcoming over 200 children, it’s been another busy week here at Swindon Town Football in the Community.
Easter Development Courses

We were delighted to welcome over 200 children onto our Easter Development Courses this week. Children of all ages joined us at locations in Swindon, Marlborough and Corsham. The kids were coached on the finer elements of their game before putting their new skills into practice. Thanks to all the children who made this week such fun! We look forward to our Goalkeepers Only and Elite Development Courses in the week to come.
Spaces are still available on our Development Courses next week.

Development Centre and After School Clubs

After our fantastic Easter Holiday Development Camps, we’re looking forward to the start of our Summer Term of Development Centres and After School Clubs next week. We run courses for children of all ages so there’s something for everyone. Sessions are run at locations all over Swindon and there are still spaces available for your child to get active and make friends.

We Know the Score- do you?

This April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and Swindon Town Football in the Community and Swindon Town Football Club are supporting the eighth annual Know the Score campaign.
Bowel cancer is the UK’s fourth most common cancer, with over 41,200 new cases each year. It’s also the second biggest cancer killer. Every 90 minutes three people die of the disease. That’s 44 people each day — the equivalent to four football teams — but it needn’t be that way. Bowel cancer is treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early. Over 95% of bowel cancer patients will survive the disease for five years or more if diagnosed at the earliest stage.
Symptoms of bowel cancer can include:
• Bleeding for your bottom and/or blood in your poo
• A change in bowel habit lasting three weeks or more
• Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason
• A pain or lump in your tummy
• Unexplained weight loss
Most people with these symptoms won’t have bowel cancer, but if you have one or more of these, or if things just don’t feel right, visit your doctor. You’re not wasting anyone’s time by getting it checked out. If it’s not serious, your mind will be eased, and if it is bowel cancer, the earlier you are diagnosed, the better the chance of successful treatment and cure. A trip to your doctor could save your life.

Girls’ Centre of Excellence

The STFC Girls’ Centre of Excellence U10’s and U12’s travelled to Arsenal last week. Aside from the hosts, the girls were pitted against local teams from North London. The girls did brilliantly, losing only 4 games throughout the day. We’d like to thank all the girls who travelled and Arsenal for hosting a great day.

STFC Elites

Our Elite teams headed to Brentford last Thursday and Friday to face sides from Brentford and Reading. Teams from U7’s‑U16’s made the trip, producing some brilliantly performances and wearing the badge with pride. The top performers were our U11’s, who went the whole day unbeaten, and without conceding a single goal.
