photoThis weekend saw the STFC GCFFE take on Yeovil Girls, Highworth Town Boys along with the London based FUTSAL Capital Cup. The STFC Under 10’s and 11’s played against Highworth Town Boys at Stratton Community Centre. Both teams faught hard in the difficult weather conditions and played some impressive football. The Under 10’s played extremely well in the first third, winning 4 – 1. The boys then proceeded to fight back and ended up winning the second half 7 – 6. The last third proved victorious for the boys in which they ended up winning 10 – 8. Standout player for the U10’s was Kayla Poole who defended extemely well along with creating lots of goal scoring opportunities. The Under 11’s faced a strong Highworth Boys team and started off slowly in the first third. In the second and last third they more than matched the Highworth boys and were unlucky to come away with a loss. Standout player for the U11’s was without doubt Sarah King who pulled off some tremendous saves keeping the scoreline down. Elsewhere the Under 12’s played against Yeovil Town Under 13’s at Swindon Academy. The girls dominated from the kick off as Yeovil struggled to get out of their own half. The girls defended impressively and standout performers went to Becky Wilkins and Lucy Scrannage. photoThe Under 15′ Girls faced Highworth Town Boys U14’s and started the first 15 minutes very well. Unfortunately the girls conceeded a goal after 20 minutes and then proceeded to conceed a further 2 goals. The second half saw the girls change their formation which enabled them to play good passing and free flowing football with some very positive performances from Jessica Phillips, Lucy Goodright, Holly Chandler and Gabriella Davis and in particular Lydia Jane Drew Neale. Baeley Foster pulled off some really good saves in the second half. Clive Maguire, Team manager has commented This was a great fixture towards our Gothia Cup trip in July and I was very pleased with the girls performance and attitude in the second half.’ Final score was 3 – 1 to the boys. The Under 16’s Girls played against Yeovil Town and tried out a new system of play. Goals from Karolyn Byrom, Jordan Odonoghue and Jess Graham secured a 3 – 0 comfortable victory. Players of the match was Lauren Hicks & Elizabeth Bools. photoThe Under 13’s entered two teams in the FUTSAL Capital Cup. The first team found themselves in a tough group and played first. They drew against Kinja C and Reading but lost to Kinja B and Hampstead. The second team won 7 – 0 against Old Actonians 3 – 0 against House Lark Rangers lost to Enfield 1 – 0. The girls then proceeded to beat spurs 1 – 0 but unfortunately came a close second on goal difference. Stand out performers for each team went to Eloise Hayward with a special mention to Izzy Dawson who was a close second and had a great tournament. First team player of the day was Harriott Brown. Huge congratulations to all of our Centre For Excellence Girls and we look forward to facing Tottenham on Friday 21st February.
