image-168x300The Town Ladies eased their way through to the Wiltshire County Women’s Cup Final with a two goals to nil victory over Swindon Spitfires. The Town went in at half time with the advantage of two Georgia Walters’ goals but despite a spirited second half display the home side could not break through the Town backline to trouble Town keeper Robyn Levett. Spitfires keeper Tamsin Kellett was soon in action saving from Sally Butterfield but in the 7th minute she could do nothing to keep out Georgia Walters shot from the edge of the penalty area following a steady Town build up. Tamsin Kellett was the busier of the two keepers and again she did well to prevent Sally Butterfield from adding to the Town’s lead. In the 26th minute the Town doubled their lead when Georgia Walters fired in Amy Baker’s cross. The Town began to control the midfield but were unable to break through the Spitfires backline well marshalled by Hayley Huckin. Michelle Rich was close with a free kick that just cleared the Spitfires’ cross bar and Georgia Walters forced Tamsin Kellett to save low at the post. Spitfires started the second half the stronger but Town central defenders Laura Morgan and Kelly Nightingale were preventing the Spitfire forwards from getting a sight on goal. The Town were creating few openings and Tamsin Kellett did well to push Chyna Collings’ blast onto the Spitfires cross bar and away to safety. Spitfires were controlling the midfield but when the Town did break they looked dangerous and when Ellie Maynard played Georgia Walters clear a gaol looked certain but again Tasmin Kellt saved well. With time running out Sammie Smith did test Robyn Levett in the Town’s goal but the keeper was equal to the challenge. The Town will now play Wootton Bassett Town in the final.
