Our U16s had an early start to the competition, with a disappointing loss to a strong Spanish side on just a few hours sleep. Our U14s had a slightly more positive start to the tournament, winning their first match 3 – 1.

The U14’s went on to finish top of their group but narrowly missed out on a place in the final 32. The U16’s sailed through, and beat a team from Mexico in the round of 32, before being knocked out of the cup by a strong Swedish team.

As we travel home from another memorable Gothia Cup experience, we can reflect on what’s been a very special week for our U14 & U16 squads. Both sets of players have behaved impeccably and have been an absolute pleasure to take on tour. This morning we held our traditional end of tour presentation, when we announced our player of the matches, player of the tournament and team ambassador awards.
