Our STFC U12 Girls ETC recently returned from an unforgettable three-day trip to Barcelona, where they had the opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition from across Europe.

The tournament provided an excellent experience for the players, both on and off the pitch, as they competed against high-quality teams and experienced the unique challenges that tournament football brings.

The squad showed great determination throughout the weekend, competing hard in every match. There were plenty of positives to take from their performances, with the players demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and a willingness to learn in a highly competitive environment.

The final day saw some dramatic moments, with one of our teams narrowly missing out on a place in the final after a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat in the semi-finals. They responded brilliantly to finish the tournament with a victory and secure an impressive third-place finish.

Our other squad also faced tough opposition, suffering a narrow defeat from a late goal before bouncing back to end the tournament on a high with a win against a strong French side, securing seventh place overall.

Beyond the results, the trip provided invaluable learning opportunities for all of the players. Experiencing different styles of football, managing the highs and lows of tournament play, and representing the club abroad will all contribute to their continued development.

These experiences are a key part of our ETC programme, providing players with opportunities to challenge themselves in new environments and create lasting memories with their teammates. We are incredibly proud of how all of the girls conducted themselves throughout the trip and know they will take plenty of lessons and confidence from their time in Barcelona.
