Tom Broadbent wins our PFA Player in the Community Award

News

Posted May 19, 2021

We were very happy to present Tom Broadbent with the PFA’s Player in the Community Award for Swindon Town FC.

What really makes Tom stand out, is that he would come to us to ask if there’s anything he could help out with or anything more he could do, actively trying to increase his involvement within the community. Tom took part in Zoom calls with our elderly fans, giving them the opportunity to ask him questions and speaking to them frankly about his own experiences both in football, and in his previous career as a Lance Bombardier with the Royal Artillery. He was also someone we could regularly turn to for projects that require a video, such as the EFL’s You vs. Train campaign, and the Premier League’s World Book Day campaign.

As a CCO, it makes our job a lot easier to know we have First-Team players that we can turn to and rely on for community activities. We’re very grateful that Tom was always happy to make time for us, and we know that meant a lot to our participants and fans.”

– Jon Holloway, Head of Foundation

Tom came in for a chat with out Extra Timers, who presented him with his award.

Thanks again Tom, and we wish you all the best of luck for the future.
