Today Swindon Town FC Community Foundation officially opened The Nigel Eady Training Centre — a covered sports facility on the site of the former County Ground Bowls Club. This will provide vulnerable groups such as the very young, and people with disabilities, the opportunity to play in a sheltered location, whatever the weather.

The ceremonial ribbon was cut by Gary Herbert and John Carter, executors of the Nigel Eady Trust, and the event was attended by over 100 supporters and friends of the Foundation including representatives of other Swindon sports clubs, and members of local government.

The Foundation would like to thank The Nigel Eady Trust, the Premier League, the FA, and the Football Foundation for their continued financial support, and Swindon Borough Council and South Swindon Parish Council for their grant funding. Further thanks to the Wiltshire Community Foundation in partnership with the Hills Group and Crapper and Sons, for their funding towards the car park and the club house refurbishment. Also, thanks to the EFL Trust, the PFA, Imagine Cruising and our Main Sponsor Intel for their contributions.

Head of Foundation, Jon Holloway, said:

This brand new, state-of-the-art facility represents our commitment to the people of Swindon, and the community that has been built around the Football Club. After opening Foundation Park in 2019, we identified another gap in the provision of sports facilities in Swindon. Today marks another momentous day for the Foundtion, and we’re very proud to be able to provide even more people with access to top quality sports facilities and equipment – right on their doorstep.”
