Swindon Town FITC Host Football League Community Cup

IMG_0540.JPGSwindon Town FITC Trust hosted the Football League Community Cup Southern Final at Stanley Park — Chippenham on Wednesday 12th March. The tournament was run at Stanley Park which saw Football League 1 teams from all around the Southern region enter. The tournament was a huge success with all the league tables below:

Leyton Orient, Peterborough, MK Dons & Stevenage all progressed into the semi finals which saw both 1 – 0 victories for Leyton Orient & Stevenage. The final was a very tight affair with both teams battling and playing some very impressive football. Overall with the 5 minute golden goal’ Leyton Orient scored the winner. Clive Maguire STFC Development Manager has commented: It was a really enjoyable day with all the games being played in a good community spirit. The standard was of a very high quality which saw the Leyton Orient team securing a memorable day at Wembley in May. We would like to wish them every success and thank all the teams who took part in the Tournament on Wednesday. We would like to say a big thank you also to Pete Hussey at Stanley Park for allowing them to use their magnificent facility.”
