Swindon Half Marathon update

News

Posted Sep 18, 2026

The Swindon Half Marathon takes place next weekend, and 25 runners representing Swindon Town FC Community Foundation will be taking to the streets to raise vital funds for the Foundation’s Disability Programmes.

The team is made up of Foundation staff, casual workers and volunteers, alongside parents, participants from the Football Fans in Training programme and members of the local community who have come together with a shared passion for supporting an important local cause.

After five months of training, including some of the hottest weather conditions in living memory, the team has also been working hard to raise funds. So far, they have collectively raised more than £7,000 towards their £10,000 target – with the team hoping to reach their goal by race day.

Funds raised will support the range of Disability Programmes delivered at Foundation Park, providing opportunities for people with Down syndrome, physical and learning disabilities, and other additional needs to take part in sport and physical activity.

The programmes provide much more than opportunities to be active. They help participants develop friendships, build confidence and reduce social isolation, all within the purpose-built Nigel Eady Multi-Sports Dome at Foundation Park.

Everyone at Swindon Town FC Community Foundation is hugely grateful to the 25 runners for taking on the challenge and supporting this important work. The Foundation would also like to thank Ridgeway Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, for sponsoring the team and providing valuable event resources.

If you’re heading out to watch the Swindon Half Marathon this weekend, keep an eye out for the Foundation team and give them a big cheer. And make sure you look out for Swindon Town FC mascot Rockin Robin, who will also be taking on the 13.1‑mile challenge!
