Successful Day As Arsenal Come To Town
News
As part of the Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust Development programme, the Advanced Development Centre
squads, Under 7’s to Under 12’s, have the opportunity to test themselves against oppositions from across the country including those from the Premier League. Yesterday, saw the mighty Gunners — Arsenal, visit Swindon in which a range of development fixtures took place at Stratton Community Centre’s new 3G pitches. The fixtures gave all of the players and coaches a great insight into the levels reached from a Premier League outfit, however like in 1969 at Wembley when Swindon beat Arsenal 3 – 1 in that historic win, Swindon played some excellent football and showed great strength and courage to play the right way. Some of the stand out results came from the Under 10’s who won 3 – 2 and drew 3 – 3, whilst the Under 11’s lost 4 – 1 and drew 3 – 3 too. The Under 12’s also managed to improve on their initial fixture by winning 3 – 2. A big well done to the Under 7/8/9’s who all competed very well too! A big thank you to Ben Roberts at Arsenal FC for bringing the Arsenal teams down to Swindon. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
