Swindon Town FC Community Foundation are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £50,000 of funding from South Swindon Parish Council. This significant contribution will be used to support the construction of the Foundation’s upcoming state-of-the-art indoor community sports facility, being built on the former County Ground Bowls Club site.

Head of Foundation, Jon Holloway said:

“We are incredibly grateful to the South Swindon Parish Council for the award of this funding, which has helped us reach our target for the facility. We’re very excited to be able to take Foundation Park to the next level, and provide this facility for the people of Swindon.

​“We believe that the covered sports facility will provide the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community, with new opportunities and ways to engage within the heart of the community, whilst also building upon the success of Foundation Park, and increasing the capacity of the overall site. Enabling us to run additional services and provide additional provision for play and training. We can now very much look forward to work commencing onsite within the next few months and the opening of this facility in the Autumn of 2022.” 

Chris Watts, Chair of South Swindon Parish Council said of the project: 

“The services that are provided by the STFC Community Foundation go above and beyond the remit of the excellent youth football programme and this new arena provides a much-needed multi-sport and community centred activity hub for all the community. The commitment of the foundation to reach out to all generations, for example, providing activities to combat isolation and loneliness or promote paths to better fitness and wellbeing in the Parish is impressive. South Swindon Parish Council are pleased to work with the foundation to assist in delivering these positive outcomes in our community.”
