SEN Stars Shine in Special Fixture at Foundation Park
Last night, Foundation Park played host to a truly special competitive fixture, as our SEN players took to the pitch to face Marlborough. The occasion was about far more than just the result, it was a celebration of inclusion, teamwork, and the power of sport to bring people together.
Our team was proudly made up of players from both the Down’s Syndrome Active sessions and our Pan Disability programme, combining their talents and enthusiasm to represent the club. It was inspiring to see how well the group came together, supporting one another and playing with confidence and determination throughout the match.
The game itself was played in a fantastic spirit, with both teams showing excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and mutual respect from start to finish. It was also brilliant to see so many fans and supporters in attendance, creating a lively atmosphere and cheering the players on every step of the way, their encouragement made a real difference on the night.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Marlborough for making the journey to Foundation Park and contributing to such an enjoyable and memorable evening. Fixtures like this highlight the importance of opportunity, community, and the joy of the game for all players.
STFC Disability Lead Scott Burden reflected on the evening, saying:
“It was a fantastic occasion and a valuable opportunity for our SEN players to experience competitive fixtures and continue developing their teamwork and confidence. This represents another positive step forward for our disability programme, and we’re excited to build on this by hosting more fixtures in the future.”
It was a night to remember, and one that showcased exactly what inclusive sport is all about.
We love our supporters.
And we love what we do. But we couldn’t do it without these great people that get behind us. Be a supporter.
