Premier League Community Captain 2024

News

Posted Feb 22, 2024

We all know that football is much more than a game, and that Clubs are at the heart of their communities. Thanks to Premier League investment we have been able to inspire hundreds of young people to recognise their potential through Premier League Kicks sessions this year.

Kicks uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential, enabling 90 Premier League, English Football League and National League club charities like the Foundation to deliver free weekly football sessions, which have supported more than 500,000 young people since the programme began.

This year, Thashania has been chosen as STFC Community Foundation’s Community Captain as part of the Premier League’s More Than A Game campaign’. Thashania wanted to develop her coaching, and was signposted to support with our Kicks sessions by the Wilts FA’s Inclusionary Action Group. Thashania has since been volunteering with our Girls’s Kicks sessions with the ambition of driving positive change amongst our participants, of which over a third are from ethnically diverse communities. We’re very proud that as a result or her engagement, she has had the confidence and support to attain a fully-funded place on a FA intro to coaching course. We’re proud to be able to support Thashania in her coaching journey thanks to Premier League investment!
