Walking Footballers[/caption] STFC Community Trust joined nine other teams from around the country to compete in the first national over 50’s walking football tournament. Teams that took part such as Leeds Utd, Norwich City, Derby County and Blackpool all competed with great spirit throughout the day. The Swindon team that gallantly won through in Exeter on the 26th June 2015 took their place yesterday at St George’s Park against some tough opposition. The seven man squad managed to draw all four games within their group which sadly wasn’t enough to see them through to the semi-finals. The STFC players were comforted by Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool coming from their group to compete in the final. The eventual winners, Plymouth Argyle were triumphant in victory and were worthy winners of the tournament. Jimmy Little, team captain, said “It has been a great experience and good to catch up with players that I haven’t seen for a long time, we will be very keen to continue playing particularly at national level.”
