Men United For Preston Encounter
News
On Saturday 22nd March, the Swindon Town Football in the Community and StreetGames Swindon team united in working
together in order to raise awareness and participate in a bucket collection for
Prostate Cancer UK. A group of young volunteers, who take part in the StreetGames Swindon programme which includes Doorstep Sports Clubs and Twilight Football, were assembled as part of a voluntary work scheme, whilst showing a keen interest in charity work. The bucket collection took part around the County Ground between 1pm and 3pm on the day of Swindon Town FC’s home fixture vs. Preston North End. As well as being for an excellent cause, the group of young men had the chance to build confidence and self esteem, improve teamwork skills and work on positive communication skills.
Overall, the lads managed to raise a fantastic £509! A big well done to all of the lads that took part, who also got the chance to watch Swindon beat Preston 1 – 0, as a thank you for their hard work, effort and commitments on the day. Thank you to all Swindon and Preston fans who kindly donated too. For more information on Prostate Cancer UK, please visit their website http://prostatecanceruk.org/
