Gavin Kilkenny Surprises Rodbourne Cheney Primary School Students
Swindon Town First Team player Gavin Kilkenny surprised hundreds of children at Rodbourne Cheney Primary School today, when he popped in to meet them this afternoon. Gavin visited every single year group and spent over an hour answering their questions ranging from “How did you become a professional footballer?” through to “What would you do differently if you started your career again?”
“It was fantastic to have Gavin Kilkenny come along with us today when we paid a visit to our ‘Town Together’ partners Rodbourne Cheney Primary School. The children threw some fantastic questions at Gavin who shared his thoughts on how to become a professional footballer through application, dedication, resilience and team work, helping to inspire the next generation of Swindon sports stars.” — Darren Howell, Strategic & Partnership Manager
“I absolutely loved meeting all the children and answering their questions. Hopefully I inspired some to come and play for Swindon Town some day!” — Gavin Kilkenny, Swindon Town FC First Team Player
As a thank you for being a ‘Town Together’ partner, every child at Rodbourne Cheney Primary School received an adult and child ticket to the club’s upcoming game against Crewe Alexandra.
Town Together is an initiative co-developed by the Community Foundation and Swindon Town FC, which enables partnership development between local schools and the club. This incorporates our classroom-based programme delivery, healthy lifestyle & sports activities and developing pathways for further engagement within Foundation programmes. An additional benefit to the school is that every child receives 2 tickets for an upcoming fixture, which creates opportunities for many children to watch a professional match for the very first time.
We love our supporters.
And we love what we do. But we couldn’t do it without these great people that get behind us. Be a supporter.
