Foundation Park Pitch Twinned with the Peace Field in Flanders

News

Posted Feb 05, 2020 in Other

Today we were extremely proud to welcome Paul Cooper and Ernie Brennan of the National Children’s Football Alliance to Foundation Park to make our twinning with the Flanders Peace Field official. We heard an address from Paul, and from club chaplain Simon Stevenette, before the signing of the Declaration for Peace.

The Peace Field Project aims to bring together people of all nations through a mutual love of football, and we’re proud to be a part of it.

This March, our Head of Foundation will head over to the Peace Field to take part in the This Country vs. That Country’ charity football match, and will lay a Peace Poppy Ball at the Menin Gate after the Last Post.

We’ll also be looking to take a team out to the Global Peace Games in September, joining teams from all over the world in order to promote a global network of children and youth committed to a culture of friendship, understanding and peace.
