EFL DAY OF ACTION 2021!

News

Posted Apr 14, 2021

As part of the EFL Day of Action, Swindon Town FC and the Community Foundation are showcasing the weekly football coaching session for asylum seekers and refugees.

Working in partnership with The Harbour Project, the new weekly session takes place at Foundation Park every Tuesday and at this weeks session first team players Tyler Smith and Archie Matthews joined the participants for a Q & A.

The Harbour Project provides advice, support, practical help and friendship, for every individual who seeks asylum or is granted refugee status in Swindon, helping them to begin rebuilding their lives. STFC Community Foundation is aiding them in this, by providing a weekly coached Football session at Foundation Park. This gives participants an opportunity to take to the field in a safe environment, helping maintain their fitness, as well as helping to work on communication, and building relationships with their local community.

The session currently has twenty participants, hailing from different parts of the globe, and we are proud to be able to work in collaboration with the Harbour Project to offer this opportunity, and hopefully make a small difference in their lives.”
