The STFC Community Foundation U14’s ETC enjoyed an unforgettable week at the prestigious Dana Cup in Denmark, combining outstanding football with an incredible international experience.

The trip began with a friendly match victory against a team from Hong Kong, giving the squad valuable preparation ahead of the tournament. Later that day, the girls proudly took part in the spectacular Dana Cup Opening Ceremony, joining thousands of players from around the world in the colourful parade through the host town of Hjørring.

The tournament got underway with a challenging opening day as the STFC Community Foundation U14’s ETC faced teams from the USA and Norway in their opening two group matches. The girls made the perfect start, producing two impressive performances to record back-to-back victories and set the tone for the week.

Momentum continued on the second day of the group stage with two more excellent displays. The team completed the group phase unbeaten, finishing top of their five-team group to secure qualification for the prestigious A Final knockout stages.

The knockout rounds began with a tough Round of 16 tie against Swedish opposition. In a closely contested encounter, the girls demonstrated tremendous determination, resilience and teamwork to earn a hard-fought 2 – 0 victory and book their place in the quarter-finals.

Awaiting them in the quarter-finals was another strong Norwegian side. Once again, the squad delivered a superb team performance, securing a brilliant 1 – 0 victory to progress to the semi-finals and guarantee themselves a place among the tournament’s final four.

The girls’ remarkable journey eventually came to an end in the semi-finals suffering a penalty shootout loss, but there was still plenty to celebrate. The STFC Community Foundation U14’s ETC finished the tournament with bronze medals and the Dana Cup third-place trophy, a fantastic achievement against high-quality international opposition.

It was an exceptional week that showcased the talent, commitment and togetherness of the entire squad. The players represented STFC Community Foundation with pride, professionalism and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the tournament, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
