Today we received an unexpected visit from a very special man Chris Kirkland.

Mr Kirkland was Deputy Head Teacher at Royal Wootton Bassett secondary school, before volunteering with his wife Maureen at Swindon Town FC for many seasons.

Chris sadly informed us today that his medical consultant has told him that he only has a few months to live.

Our Head of Foundation had the pleasure of Chris teaching him and shares his thoughts:

“Chris is a true inspiration and amazing man. I was extremely lucky to have Chris teach me at school and his energy, enthusiasm and love of football was clear to see for everyone who came into contact with him. Chris arranged many football tours to Holland for local players and these trips created life memories for hundreds of children.

Even with Chris receiving his terrible news, he continues to remain positive and upbeat, which epitomises the great man he is. Keep fighting Sir”
