Long time STFitC partner and friend, Carl McCulloch of
TRAK Employment is off on another charity mission. Not one for sitting still for very long, Carl has entered the New York Half Marathon taking place on
16th March
2014. Carl feels that he is fairly fit already so the short notice won’t affect him.
“I haven’t really stopped training since my last charity effort, my boxing match in November, so fitness shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I will step it up a little and get some more training runs in between now and then”. Carl is raising money for a project supported by the Kick
4Life charity which will be helping severely vulnerable children in Lesotho in their fight against
HIV. Lesotho has the world’s third highest prevalence of
HIV (
23.
6%) and more than
100,
000 children have been orphaned. This has had a devastating impact on life expectancy, on family and community structures and on the economy. Our work is focused on helping young people to overcome these challenges and to support them in building a brighter future for themselves and their country. In doing so we work with hundreds of other organizations from large NGOs, government ministries and businesses to small community groups, schools and orphanages. Carl said
“Its a real shame to see children suffering in any country. Born in to this kind of life isn’t their fault and any help we can give is gratefully received.” Carl is hoping to raise around £
1000 for his efforts and is calling on his colleagues, family, friends and friends of friends to help him get there. He is covering all travel expenses himself to ensure that the money raised goes directly to the charity. If you want to help, in any way possible no matter how large or small, you can by visiting Carl’s donation page at
