Apply for our C6 Football Education Programme Now
On Tuesday evening we met with prospective students and their families on at Commonweal Sixth Form’s Open Evening, to showcase the opportunities available through the C6 Football Education Programme.
The event provided Year 11 students with the chance to learn more about how C6 combines academic education with high-quality football coaching, competitive fixtures and opportunities to gain valuable qualifications within the sports industry.
Combining Education with Football
Delivered in partnership between Swindon Town FC Community Foundation and Commonweal Sixth Form, the C6 programme offers talented young footballers the opportunity to continue their academic studies while developing their football skills in a professional environment.
Students can choose from a range of A‑Level and vocational qualifications, with their academic programme tailored to their individual aspirations. Alongside their studies, players benefit from structured training sessions delivered by fully licensed coaches, regular competitive fixtures against other professional clubs, and opportunities to undertake coaching qualifications.
The programme is designed to support students both on and off the pitch, helping them develop essential life skills, including teamwork, discipline, confidence and leadership, while preparing them for their next steps in education or employment.
A Pathway for Male and Female Footballers
The C6 programme provides opportunities for both male and female players to compete at a high standard. With three men’s teams and two women’s teams competing in leagues and cups, students can experience competitive football against teams from professional clubs across the country.
From a playing perspective, Swindon Town FC Community Foundation is one of the most successful in CEFA league history. Last year three of our five teams won their respective leagues with the girls First team securing a Double-Double, winning the league for the second year in a row. This year they will compete in the National League, the highest level the Foundation has ever attained.
Players train three times a week in high-quality facilities, benefiting from an environment that encourages development, commitment and a strong team ethic.
Alongside playing opportunities, students can also explore coaching and work experience, including the chance to support Swindon Town FC Community Foundation coaches in school and community sessions. These experiences can help students build practical skills and explore future careers in sport, coaching and physical education.
We encourage our students to think beyond the programme too, with opportunities to pursue a career in football through scholarships, and gain crucial UCAS points for higher education and apprenticeships.
Take the Next Step with C6
For Year 11 students who are passionate about football and keen to continue playing at a high standard alongside their education, C6 offers an exciting opportunity to pursue both ambitions. Applications are open to talented players who are ready to commit to their academic studies and football development.
