Swindon Town FC Community Foundation are extremely happy to be a recipient of further funding support from Barclays Sported.

This latest grant will provide a support pathway for 2 of our female participants to begin their coaching journeys.

One of those recipients is Millie, a participant in our C6 College Programme having previously worked her way through the PDC (Player Development Centres) and ETC (Emerging Talent Centre) pathways.

​“I’ve grown up around football most of my life and I’ve seen how coaches can shape someone’s journey and to have the opportunity to have the same impact is huge. I’ve been part of the Swindon Town FC Community Foundation since I was 13 years old and since made my way through the PDC into the ETC programmes. I’m now in 6^th form education, still with the Foundation within their C6 education programme at Commonweal School. Since I’ve been at Swindon i have met some of the best coaches who’ve had a massive impact on me, people who make me feel welcome. When i heard that I could start my coaching journey at Swindon Town, I jumped at the chance and cannot wait to get started. I’m already volunteering in the holiday camps but really want to be part of the coaching team with a younger age group.”

The second recipient is Isabelle, a former participant within our Disability, Premier League Multi Sport and Premier League Kicks programmes. Issy, who is diagnosed with autism and learning difficulties, has been with the foundation for over a decade and during that time, has developed her confidence, improved control of her anxiety and has developed friendship groups. Issy is now super keen to help others.

​“I like everything at Swindon Town FC Community Foundation, especially helping the children and coaches. I have previously been awarded the Community Captain Award which made me very proud. I have also completed my Playmakers award and can’t wait to begin my Level 1 Coaching so I can help more people enjoy football.”

Millie & Issy will begin their FA Level 1 Coaching Certifications over the coming months.
