6-a-side A Resounding Success

DSC_0122Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust held their fourth annual 6 a Side Tournament and Festival of Football at the County Ground Stadium over the weekend. The stadium hosted teams from Wiltshire and beyond all day Saturday and Sunday. Fantastic football was displayed from all age groups involved. The tournament started bright and early on a beautiful Saturday morning with a feast of football from the Under 7′s and Under 8′s entertaining the crowds. With no results kept, all the teams showed a fantastic spirit and showed the best footballing skills of the weekend. Saturday afternoon hosted the Under 11’s Boys and Girls festival of football. The overall winners of the Under 11 tournament were Croft Boys, congratulations to all of the teams who participated in the beautiful and hot weather conditions throughout the evening. The girls only festival of football was also a resounding success having over 100 girls participating to a high standard. Sunday morning saw the Under 9’s and Under 10′s tournament play out, with both winners of the Under 9’s and Under 10’s being a triumphant Supermarine team. Congratulations to all teams who took part in this prestigious occasion. DSC_0346Sunday evening witnessed the Men’s tournament where 11 teams participated. The Semi Finals were closely battled with the FUTSAL Boys Vs RCM and the other semi final of Victoria Secret (Last years runners up) Vs Jon Turner’s team. The overall winners of the Semi Finals proceeding to the final was Victoria Secret’ and RCM’. The last game was a closely fought encounter which required Extra Time of a golden goal for RCM & Levi Cox to claim the title this year. Many congratulations to all the teams who took part. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
