Today, we hosted a Premier League Inspires Careers Event at Foundation Park, bringing together 62 participants from secondary schools across Swindon who had successfully completed our 10-week Premier League Inspires course.

As part of the event, participants had the opportunity to meet and speak directly with professionals from a range of local businesses and organisations, gaining valuable insight into different careers, job roles and the opportunities available within a variety of industries.

We would like to thank all of the local businesses and organisations who generously gave up their time to inspire and engage with our participants:

• DWFireRescue
• Dick Lovett BMW
• Royal Air Force
TWC Home Improvements
• Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon
• Intel
• Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS)

Our participants had the opportunity to learn about different career pathways and gain a better understanding of the skills, qualifications and experiences required across a variety of sectors.

Scott Burden, Premier League Inspires Lead at the Swindon Town Community Foundation, said: Events like this are incredibly valuable for young people as they provide an opportunity to speak directly with professionals from a wide range of industries and gain a genuine insight into the world of work. Having the chance to ask questions and understand the requirements, skills and pathways needed to enter different businesses and services can help make the transition from education into employment feel much more achievable.

These conversations can also help young people feel more confident about their future by allowing them to explore different career options in a supportive and informal environment. Meeting professionals face-to-face helps to break down some of the uncertainty around life after education and gives participants a clearer understanding of the opportunities available to them.”

Alongside meeting professionals from local organisations, participants also took part in a student voice workshop which gave the students a chance to give feedback on the course and afterwards they all enjoyed a range of physical activities on our 3G pitch at Foundation Park.

Their support helped provide our participants with valuable insight into the world of work and the many career opportunities available to them. Massive thank you to all the local businesses and services for taking your time to come and speak to our participants.
