Bringing Girls into Football

Premier League Girls

STFC Community Foundation, in partnership with Premier League and the FA, deliver the Premier League Girls programme, which aims to provide opportunities for females aged 11 and over to get involved in football in a local community setting.

Alongside football training, we deliver innovative sessions such as glow in the dark football to emphasise the fun, social element of the sport, and soccercise that uses football as way to keep fit.

The programme has two main objectives:

  • To increase the number of women and girls playing football on a regular basis
  • To increase the opportunities for women and girls to develop skills and confidence and progress within the pathway as a player, coach or official

The programme achieves this by providing a fun and informal environment, allowing participants to progress at their own pace and make friends at the same time.

The programme culminated in the annual National Festival, which features a total of 40 teams over two days, and is held at St George’s Park — on the same pitches that are used by the England women’s and men’s senior teams.

In the past we have achieved some great success at the festival, with the STFC team reaching the semi-finals.
